NO POVERTY

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) has set an ambitious and dedicated target to significantly boost the admission of students from low-income household groups (often aligning with the B40 demographics) to 70% of its total student intake from 2024-2030. This commitment is a core pillar of the university's strategic direction and directly supports the global mandate of Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1): No Poverty, by actively ensuring access and equity in higher education.

Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) has a dedicated internal target to ensure the retention and completion rates for students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds (B40/low-income categories) are maintained at or above the overall university graduation average. This target is monitored rigorously and is supported by a comprehensive system of academic and welfare support mechanisms. These include mandatory academic advising, mentorship programs, supplementary financial assistance during challenging periods and specialized counselling services designed to overcome non-academic barriers. All aimed at eliminating systemic disadvantages and ensuring equitable student success and completion.
