SDG 17 serves as the foundation for achieving all other Sustainable Development Goals. It recognizes that the scale and ambition of the 2030 Agenda cannot be realized by any single actor alone. Success requires cooperation, coordination and resource mobilization across all sectors of society.
Provides the necessary means of implementation — financing, technology and capacity building — that enable progress on all other SDGs.
Addresses the interconnected nature of sustainable development challenges through coordinated, multi-sectoral approaches.
Leverages collective action and shared resources to achieve greater impact and accelerate progress toward 2030 targets.
Types of Partnerships
SDG 17 recognizes that achieving the 2030 Agenda requires collaboration across all sectors and stakeholders. Success depends on revitalized partnerships that mobilize all available resources.
Collaboration between national governments, international organizations and multilateral institutions to strengthen policy frameworks and institutional capacity.
Leveraging business innovation, investment and expertise to create sustainable solutions and mobilize additional resources for development.
Engaging NGOs, community organizations and grassroots movements to ensure inclusive participation and local ownership of development initiatives.
Harnessing knowledge, innovation and research capabilities to develop evidence-based solutions and build technical capacity.
Cross-sector platforms that bring together diverse partners to address complex challenges requiring coordinated action and shared resources.
Collaborative efforts to develop, transfer and scale innovative technologies and digital solutions for sustainable development.
